Screwed thermowells manufactured from bar stock are available in three common configurations. Straight, tapered and stepped.

This thermowell can be configured to your dimensional requirements or it may be purchased off the shelf with 304 stainless steel, a 3/4" N.P.T. thread, a .260" bore and an immersion "U" of 4.5".
You can also add a lagging extension.
"U" dimensions from 0.5" to >20" are available.

Sanitary thermowells are available to meet your process requirements.They are manufactured from 300 stainless steel with a carbon content not exceeding 0.08 percent. The product contact surface finish off No. 4 meets the 3-A standards for Instrument Fittings and Connections.
Tapered thermowells are now the standard type used by most industries. They provide a higher natural frequency than straight or stepped, thus permitting operation at a higher fluid velocity and providing a fast response time.

Tantalum is a brittle, lustrous hard, heavy, grey metal. Tantalum is used in alloys having high melting points, high strength & good ductility, in nuclear reactors, in aircraft and missile parts.
When purchasing a thermowell covered by a specific code, an engineering report is used to determine the optimum configuration. For high pressure, high temperature, boiler pressure vessel code, or industry specific code work, it is recommended that an engineering report is approved by the applicable regulating authority. In order to realize these capabilities, the purchaser must have specific process information available for our engineering staff.
The minimum information required is the maximum operating pressure, temperature range, fluid velocity, and specific volume of the process fluid. With this information a report can be generated to design the optimum thermowell for your application.
The assembly pictured above includes a 100 Platinum Resistance Thermometer and an Aluminum head and sanitary service flanged thermowell. This sensor may be ordered to meet your dimensional requirements with our Java Script form, or you may print a copy of our form above, fill it out and fax if to our sales department. Temperature sensors with sanitary service flanges are in use today in cities near you.
